Our long-term plan

Every decision made at EPCOR is guided by our long-term plan. 

The plan is our strategy to achieve our purpose, provide clean water and safe, reliable energy, and create value for our shareholder (the City of Edmonton). 

The plan is organized around four focus areas. 

1. People

EPCOR aims to: 

  • Attract and retain high-quality and diverse employees  
  • Continue to foster a culture that drives excellence in employee safety, wellness and engagement 
  • Mature our hybrid work models 

2. Operational Excellence

EPCOR aims to: 

  • Support the transition to a low-carbon economy through grid transformation 
  • Continue to protect source water and develop resilient infrastructure 
  • Use new technologies and innovations 

3. Community

EPCOR aims to: 

  • Keep rates affordable for our customers and control costs by seeking efficiencies through continuous improvement, business synergies and technology 
  • Continue to reduce our environmental footprint  
  • Prudently manage risks, such as those related to government and regulatory concerns, extreme weather, health, safety and environmental performance, and new business integration 

4. Growth 

EPCOR aims to: 

  • Invest in our regulated business lines to maintain system reliability and meet customer needs 
  • Pursue growth opportunities in Canada and the United States based on strategic fit 
  • Use our experience and expertise within our industries 

Plan updates

The plan is updated each year by EPCOR staff and then approved by EPCOR’s Board of Directors.
