Billing updates

Understanding your gas bill: Important updates effective April 1, 2025

We want to keep you informed about upcoming changes to your natural gas bill, designed to ensure we continue to deliver safe and reliable service to your home or business.

Gas prices

  • Starting April 1, 2025, the price for the gas commodity and transportation portion of your bill will increase by $0.068091 per cubic meter, making it $0.204261 per cubic meter.
  • This change, approved by the Ontario Energy Board, reflects the prices EPCOR expects to pay its gas suppliers through March 2026.
  • On your bill, this cost is listed under "Gas Commodity."

As a regulated utility, EPCOR can recover the costs of purchasing gas, including any associated costs, without any mark-up or profit. The price you pay is based on forecasted gas and transportation costs, which are periodically reviewed and adjusted by the OEB to match actual costs. The gas commodity portion of your bill is regularly updated throughout the year as gas prices change.

Federal Carbon Charge

Starting April 1, 2025, the Federal Carbon Charge will be removed from your bill for gas consumed on or after this date, in line with government regulations.

How will this impact you?

  • The impact on your bill depends on your gas usage.
  • For a typical residential customer using about 2,150 cubic meters of gas annually, these changes will reduce your annual heating costs by approximately $181.
  • The increase in Gas Commodity costs will be offset by the removal of the Federal Carbon Charge.
  • If you have a contract with a gas marketer or broker, your price may vary depending on the terms of your contract.
