At EPCOR, our focus is on ensuring the sustainability of our operations and the communities we serve across North America. Our sustainability journey continues to evolve, as we listen, learn and as the world around us changes. After kicking off a new three-year reporting cycle in 2023, our 2024 Sustainability Performance Update reflects our progress towards those goals.

Thanks to our renewable energy projects, we’re on track to meet a 50% reduction in net Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in 2025.

Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our employees, contractors and the public. In 2024, we achieved an overall record safety result — 0.75 injuries for every 100 full-time workers.

Reasonable costs

We place a high priority on affordability for customers. Between 2022 and 2024, our average annual increase in operating costs per customer was less than 2.5%, compared to North American consumer price increases averaging around 3.8% per year.

Wastewater reuse

We invest in innovations that make efficient use of water. In drought-challenged regions, that means treating wastewater to an A+ standard for reuse in irrigation, agriculture and to recharge aquifers.

Flood protection

In 2024, we progressed to 28% completion of our work to protect our utility assets from major flooding in Edmonton’s river valley. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.
