In 2021, the WaterSHED (Water: Saskatchewan Headwaters, Edmonton and Downstream) Monitoring Program — a partnership between EPCOR, the City of Edmonton and North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance — was recognised as a finalist for an Emerald Award by the Alberta Emerald Foundation. In 2011, our Edmonton waterworks system became the first water utility to achieve Government of Alberta EnviroVista Champion Status. Under the program, we commit to environmental initiatives that exceed required operating standards.

We provide $1 million in community support every year. Since 2020, we have committed $3.5 million to support charities and community groups during the COVID pandemic. In 2020, our employees raised more than $570,000 in support of United Way, earning the United Way’s Leading the Way award.

In 2022, we achieved Committed status with Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business and are also registered with the council as an Aboriginal Procurement Champion.
At EPCOR, our people are the heart of our business and critical to our success. Every year since 2006, we have been recognised by Mediacorp as one of Alberta’s Top Employers.
For more than a decade, Mediacorp has also recognised us as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.
After just a few years of operating in the United States, we were recognised in 2015 by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work — and have been on the list almost every year since.
In 2022 and 2021, we achieved a Star level as part of the Voluntary Protection Program with the Arizona Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The VPP is the highest federal recognition for workplace safety in the U.S.
