Community engagement groups

What is a Community Liaison Group?

A Community Liaison Group is:

  • A forum for community members to come together and learn about EPCOR's water and wastewater service delivery, operational issues, and programs.
  • A way for community members to discuss the community's concerns and aspirations.
  • On a project-specific basis, a way to provide feedback that will be directly reflected in the alternatives developed.

10-15 community members make up a Community Liaison Group group, with approximately equal numbers of representatives from community leagues, non-government organizations, and members of the community at large. Members are from diverse backgrounds, circumstances and experiences, but all of them are passionate about their local community.

Where are EPCOR's Community Liaison Groups?

EPCOR currently works with community members in the communities surrounding the Gold Bar wastewater treatment plant.

 What does the role involve?

  • Engaging as an individual or on behalf of a wider group to provide your insight, views and ideas as a member of the local community.
  • Listening to others in the group and respectfully debating ideas and views.
  • Helping to share relevant information with the wider community, when needed.
  • Being part of an interesting and important process.
  • Learning about the process of EPCOR's water and waste water treatment and facilities.
  • Making sure that the aspirations and concerns of local people like yourself are properly considered.
  • Developing skills in teamwork, communication and working with others.
