Chestermere

A significant portion of Chestermere’s water infrastructure was built by EPCOR. Today we have a 20-year contract with the city to maintain its wastewater and water infrastructure, including its potable water reservoir, sanitary lift stations, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, and water metering services (including installation and reading).

Services provided

  • Water and wastewater:
    • Water distribution
    • Wastewater collection
  • Competitive natural gas plans through Encor by EPCOR.

About the systems

Chestermere’s treated drinking water comes from the East Calgary Regional Water Line. The line connects to Chestermere’s main storage reservoir, called the Water Transfer Station (WTS). The WTS also acts as a booster to distribute water to the system.

Chestermere's wastewater is moved to lift stations by sanitary sewer lines. The stations move the water to Calgary’s collection system.

Figures of note

  • 780: number of manholes in the wastewater system
  • 244: number of hydrants in the water system
  • Around 26,000: population served

Operating model

EPCOR’s activity in Chestermere is conducted under an Operations & Maintenance model with a 20-year term, which ends in 2027.
