In Ontario, you can choose to pay for electricity in a way that benefits you and keeps your bill low. If you stick with a Regulated Price Plan (RPP), you have options:
Time of use (TOU)
Push your energy consumption to low rate times for lower bills.
Manage your electricity bill by shifting your usage to a price period at a lower rate. Rates are split into three price periods: off-peak, mid-peak and on-peak. Using your electricity during less popular times could save you money.
Ultra-low overnight (ULO)
Benefit from a lifestyle that’s not 9-5. Pay extra low rates for energy used while the rest of the world is sleeping.
Whether you’re a night owl or work odd hours, let your habits lower your bill. Rates are split into four price periods: ultra-low overnight, weekend off-peak, mid-peak and on-peak. Save money by using electricity when everyone else isn't.
Tiered pricing
Good at budgeting your electricity use? Get a monthly energy allowance at a low rate and pay less at any time of day.
If you value flexibility, pay less for your electricity at any time of day, up to a certain amount. Once your threshold is met, pay a slightly higher rate.
Understand your options. Compare timeframes and look at all available rates in one place.
