Water service fees and special rates

Some of our services are provided at an extra cost.

The service application fee is $25 for all new or changed water services accounts within the City of Edmonton.

While the rates below apply to all of our customers, they most commonly apply to seasonal customers who request water and meter connections and disconnections.

We can repair or replace damaged water valves, meters, remote meter reading devices or other EPCOR equipment or appurtenances that are located on a customer's property.

Actual cost plus $100

Applicable if you miss a scheduled appointment with an EPCOR representative.

Applicable if one of our representatives misses a scheduled appointment with you without giving reasonable notice.

$35.00 credit to customer per missed appointment

Applicable if you don't allow us access to read your meter for a six consecutive months.

$40.00 per month

Applicable to all of our customers who obtain water service through fire hydrants.

Applicable if you obtain water at a site during the construction period, prior to the premises going into account for billing.

Construction service charge is $0.44 / $1000 of construction cost.

Rates payable in advance. No refunds.

Applicable if you request a water service to be turned on or turned off (excludes turn-on related to non-payment on account).

These rates are applicable if you obtain water from a truckfill site within the City of Edmonton municipal boundaries.

Applicable if you require a meter reading on a date other than when it's normally scheduled to be read that month.

Applicable if we must complete your monthly meter read in person for:

Non-standard meter read because no response was received: $49.03
Meter read due to confirmed customer AMI opt-out: $25 (effective September 1, 2025)

Please do not use, alter, change or repair any EPCOR assets, such as a water valve or hydrant. This charge is applicable if a customer damages or tampers with one of our assets.

Actual cost to repair plus $250

Applicable if we make a service call to thaw your frozen water service.

First visit - no charge
Second visit - $300 per hour

Sewage delivered by truck to the Poundmaker Wastewater Transfer Station (less the first steering axle): $28.12/axle (GST exempt).

Wastewater having a settleable solids concentration greater than 100ml/l will be charged twice the rate of the above (for 2024: $56.24/axle, GST exempt).

The cost of this service is $150.02 plus GST per titled lot and is invoiced the month after the record search is issued.

This search covers records for information related to the following sections of past and present City Bylaws: Sewers Bylaw 9425, Sections 4 – 38; Sewers Use Bylaw 9675, Sections 4 – 37; Drainage Bylaw 16200, Sections 4 – 40 and 50 – 51; Drainage Bylaw 18093, Sections 15 – 20; EPCOR Drainage Services Bylaw 18100, Schedule 2; EPCOR Water Services and Wastewater Treatment Bylaw 17698, Schedule 1, Part IV, Wastewater Overstrength Surcharges and EPCOR Drainage Services & Wastewater Treatment Bylaw 19627 Schedule 1 & 2. Municipal address and legal description
Customer address and contact information
Customer file or project number
Letter of authorization from the current property owner with clearly printed name and signature
